'Reinforcing Self Esteem At Home' - Emmanuel Segui's Blog Article - April 12, 2007

Emmanuel Segui's blog article is reprinted here.

Reinforcing Self Esteem At Home Part 1
Emmanuel Segui

Your home should be a place of peace and refuge where you can find rest and solace in order to recharge from the events of the day. This refuge is especially important when it comes to reinforcing your self esteem.

Each day, our self esteem suffers from drastic blows from friends, family members, coworkers, spouses, children, school mates, or even perfect strangers. Instead of allowing yourself to become entrenched in feelings of self loathing or self doubt, take time to reinforce your self
esteem in the comfort and privacy of your own home.

Know that you home is a refuge for your body, mind, and spirit so that you can devote the necessary attention to yourself.

When dealing with reinforcing your self esteem in the comfort of your own home, consider creating a space that is only for you. Take a private corner, cozy niche, or spare room and create your own private oasis.

Each individual will have a different idea of an area that is totally relaxing, calming, and reenergizing to him or her. Maybe you see a sparse Asian-inspired area where you can practice your tai chi and meditation in order to rebuild and replenish your spirit.

Perhaps your idea of a private sanctuary is a plot of land where you work in tune with nature to care for terrific plants of all species and types. Maybe your private oasis is a cozy reading nook filled with books, a comfortable chair, and good quality reading light. Whatever your space looks
like, ensure it is made especially for you.

Instruct your spouse, children, siblings, family members, or roommates to avoid your special space so that you can maintain the personal and private feeling. Also, instruct anyone who shares you home not to bother you while you are in your personal oasis. Attempt to create an atmosphere absent of distractions like the telephone, computer, or television.

'Relationships Are Everything' - Brian Tracy's Blog Article - April 12, 2007

Brian Tracy's blog article is reprinted here.

Relationships Are Everything
Brian Tracy

Your ability to develop and maintain long-term customer relationships is the foundation for your success as a salesperson and your success in business.

Your Foundation for Success
Relationship Selling is the core of all modern selling strategies. Your ability to develop and maintain long-term customer relationships is the foundation for your success as a salesperson and your success in business. Relationship selling requires a clear understanding of the dynamics of the selling process as they are experienced by your customer.

Propose a Business Marriage
For your customer, a buying decision usually means a decision to enter into a long-term relationship with you and your company. It is very much like a “business marriage.” Before the customer decides to buy, he can take you or leave you. He doesn’t need you or your company. He has a variety of options and choices open to him, including not buying anything at all. But when your customer makes a decision to buy from you and gives you money for the product or service you are selling, he becomes dependent on you. And since he has probably had bad buying experiences in the past, he is very uneasy and uncertain about getting into this kind of dependency relationship.

Fulfill Your Promises
What if you let the customer down? What if your product does not work as you promised? What if you don’t service it and support it as you promised? What if it breaks down and he can’t get it replaced? What if the product or service is completely inappropriate for his needs? These are real dilemmas that go through the mind of every customer when it comes time to make the critical buying decision.

Focus on the Relationship
Because of the complexity of most products and services today, especially high-tech products, the relationship is actually more important than the product. The customer doesn’t know the ingredients or components of your product, or how your company functions, or how he will be treated after he has given you his money, but he can make an assessment about you and about the relationship that has developed between the two of you over the course of the selling process. So in reality, the customer’s decision is based on the fact that he has come to trust you and believe in what you say.

Build a Solid Trust Bond
In many cases, the quality of your relationship with the customer is the competitive advantage that enables you to edge out others who may have similar products and services. The quality of the trust bond that exists between you and your customers can be so strong that no other competitor can get between you.

Keep Your Customers for Life
The single biggest mistake that causes salespeople to lose customers is taking those customers for granted. This is a form of “customer entropy.” It is when the salesperson relaxes his efforts and begins to ignore the customer. Almost 70 percent of customers who walked away from their existing suppliers later replied that they made the change primarily because of a lack of attention from the company.

Once you have invested the time and made the efforts necessary to build a high-quality, trust-based relationship with your customer, you must maintain that relationship for the life of your business. You must never take it for granted.

Action Exercises
First, focus on building a high quality relationship with each customer by treating your customer so well that he comes back, buys again and refers you to his friends.

Second, pay attention to your existing customers. Tell them you appreciate them. Look for ways to thank them and encourage them to come back and do business with you again.

'Too Much To Do, Too Little Time' - Brian Tracy's Blog Article - April 11, 2007

Brian Tracy's blog article is reprinted here.

Too Much To Do, Too Little Time
Brian Tracy

The most common form of stress that we experience is the feeling of being overwhelmed with far too much to do and having too little time to do it in.

“Time poverty” is the biggest single problem facing most managers in America today. We simply do not have enough time to fulfill all our responsibilities. Because of budget limitations, staff cutbacks, downsizing, and competitive pressures, individual managers are forced to take on more and more work, all of which appears to be indispensable to the smooth functioning of our company or department.

Become an Expert
The solution to this problem of work overload is for you to become an expert on time management. There is probably no other skill that you can learn that will give you a “bigger bang for the buck” than to become extremely knowledgeable and experienced in using time management practices.

Be Open to New Ideas
The most foolish manager of all is either the manager who feels that he has no time to learn about time management or, even worse, the manager who, while being overwhelmed with work, feels that he already knows all that he needs to know about the subject.

Never Stop Learning
The fact is that you can study time management and take time management courses for your entire business life and you will still never learn everything you need to know to get the most out of yourself while doing your job in the most efficient way.

The Keys to Time Management
The two indispensable keys to time management are:1) the ability to set priorities; and 2) the ability to concentrate single-mindedly on one thing at a time. Since there is never enough time to do everything that needs to be done, you must be continually setting priorities on your activities. Perhaps the very best question that you can memorize and repeat, over and over, is, “what is the most valu able use of my time right now?”

The Best Question of All
This question, “what is the most valu able use of my time right now?” will do more to keep you on track, hour by hour, than any other single question in the list of time management strategies.

The natural tendency for all of us is to major in minors and to give in to the temptation to clear up small things first. After all, small things are easier and they are often more fun than the big, important things that represent the most valu able use of your time.

Start With Your Top Tasks
However, the self-discipline of organizing your work and focusing on your highest value tasks is the starting point of getting your time under control and lowering your stress levels.

Action Exercises
Here are two things you can do immediately to get your time under control.

First, make a decision today to become an expert on time management. Read the books, listen to the audio programs, and take a time management course. Then, practice, practice, practice every day until you master time management skills.

Second, set clear priorities on your work each day, before you begin. Then, discipline yourself to start on your most important task and stay at that until it is complete. This will relieve much of your stress immediately.
