'Adversity? What Adversity? - Wendy Betterini's Blog Article - March 22, 2007

Adversity? What Adversity

I received a nice email from a man named Stephen Hopson the other day. He had stumbled upon my website while looking for Law of Attraction articles, and wrote with some very nice compliments about my LOA articles. He even did a nice mention of his website in my blog (thanks Stephen!).

When I hopped over to his website to learn more about him, I was impressed with what I found. Here is a man who left a successful career as a Wall Street stockbroker to become a motivational speaker, writer and pilot. That's impressive enough - it takes a big leap of faith to do something like that.

But when you also consider that Stephen has been deaf since birth, his story becomes even more inspiring!

When I encounter people like Stephen I'm forced to take a deeper look at the challenges before me and ask myself if they're really as daunting as they seem.

You see, I often take on the role of "Queen of Excuses". Don't get me wrong, I'm proud of the things I've accomplished in my life so far, but if I want to be truly honest with myself, I have to admit that I hold myself back far more often than I should. Any little bump in the road is a good excuse to sit down and stop trying. I know I'm not alone in that nasty little habit! ;-)

Reading Stephen's story gave me a great moment of clarity, and I want to pass along the same to you today.

Whether you are working with a physical limitation, a fear, a phobia, or anything else that could possibly serve as an excuse - don't let it! Adversity is only what you make of it. (In fact, that's Stephen's whole premise in his work - changing the way we look at adversity.)

Take a look at Stephen's website he's got some great articles there, and also bookmark his blog: Adversity University (love that name)!

Most importantly, let Stephen's courage and determination stand as a shining example of your own capabilities in life. I certainly am.
